Water Heater Services in Lafayette, CA

Lafayette, California Water Heater Services

Keeping proper care of your water heater is essential to making sure all of the other plumbing appliances can do their jobs. Not to mention the impact it would have on your hygiene if there wasn’t any hot water.

Having a problem with your water heater can lead to all kinds of other problems. If your water heater stops working, you and your family are destined for cold showers until it can be replaced or repaired. This could be a tremendous inconvenience and, depending on the ages of the people in your home, a real health hazard. Having hot water for baths and showers is very important for health and well-being.

At Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette, we value the comfort of you and your family members. We are dedicated to building strong and lasting relationships with our clients, and we take customer care very seriously.

Common Water Heater Issues

It is likely that your water heater came with a manufacturer’s warranty of up to six years. This means that if anything goes wrong during the first six years that you own it, the warranty will cover the cost to fix it.

But, after six years, your water heater is no longer under warranty and you may start to see some signs of wear. In some cases, a water heater can get pushed to ten years of use. But, once your water heater is nearing a decade, you are very likely going to start seeing some problems.

Some of the more common water heater issues are:

  • Water does not get hot, even though the thermostat hasn’t changed temperature
  • The pressure release valve gets corroded and doesn’t work properly
  • The water that comes out looks rusty or smells funny
  • The thermostat doesn’t work properly and the water is all different temperatures
  • The seam of the tank looks rusty and eventually will burst open

Having a water heater that is anywhere from six to ten years old is a great reason to have regular maintenance. It is important to have a professional checking on your water heater regularly to keep an eye on any area of concern, and give you information and recommendations for how to proceed.

The team at Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette, has been working with all makes and models of water heaters for years. We know exactly the signs of a troubled water heater and we can expertly guide you in the care and replacement of your water heater.

What is a Tankless Water Heater System?

Up until about 20 years ago, all homes were equipped with a standard tank water heater. This tube stands vertically in your garage or utility area and holds somewhere around 30-gallons of water. The water inside of your water heater is constantly heated and kept the temperature that is set on the thermostat.

But, a tankless water heater system works differently:

  • The faucet of the plumbing fixture is turned on, indicating a need for hot water
  • The tankless system initiates and heats up the pipes of the system
  • The water moves through the heated pipes and gets hotter and hotter
  • When the faucet is turned off, the system turns off and doesn’t turn on again until hot water is needed

These systems are quite complex and, extremely beneficial to your monthly power bill. In fact, a standard water heater can be held responsible for up to 60% of your monthly power bill.

A tankless water heater system uses significantly less power and, has a much longer warranty and shelf-life.

If you are in need of standard water heater maintenance and repair or, you would like to discuss having a new tankless water heating system installed in your home, don’t hesitate to contact our office. The friendly and highly-skilled plumbers at Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette know how important having hot water in an efficient manner is to you and your family, and we are committed to helping you with that in every way possible!
