Sewer Line Repair

Sewer Line Repair in Lafayette, CA

Lafayette, California Sewer Line Repair

The sewer system of your home has a very important job – to take the used water away from your home. When you turn the water on at your faucet, shower, or any other plumbing fixture or appliance in your home the water comes from your water heater.

Once you have used the water and it rinses down the drain it goes into your sewer lines, which carry it out to the municipal sewer line system, and then to the water treatment facility.

This is true for all used water in your home; when the toilet flushes, when the washing machine is done washing and rinsing a load, when the dishwasher has drained, when you or a family member takes a shower or bath, etc. All of these scenarios dump used water – and the solids that go with it – into the sewer line system.

All of these different points of contact means that a wide variety of sewer line cleaning, maintenance, installation, and repair must happen in order to keep the system working properly. The expert team at Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette is well-versed in all things related to your sewer system and we can easily help to address any sewer problems or sewer maintenance needs that you have.

Where Can Clogs Happen?

In your home, there are two types of clogs that can happen with your plumbing system – a sewer line clog and a secondary line clog. The main line is the big sewer line that is buried under your home, and that all of the appliances and fixtures in your home connect to.

This line is the “hub” of your sewer line system and acts as the main depository for all of the other, smaller drain lines in your home. A problem in the main line can lead to flooding of sewage into your yard, and a back-up of sewage into all of your fixtures.

A secondary line clog is when you have a clog in just one plumbing fixture. For instance, a clog in your shower drain that can be cleared by using a pair of needle nosed to pull the hair out that is blocking the drain.

Secondary line clogs only affect the fixture or appliance that they are located in, but if you leave a secondary line clog without repair – it can escalate into something much bigger and lead to major problems for your entire plumbing system.

At Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette, our team of expert plumbers have been highly-trained and know all of the nuances of both main line sewer installation, repair, maintenance, and replacement. We are also thoroughly trained to deal with any type of secondary clog that you might experience in your home.

How Your Sewer Lines Works

  • All drain pipes in your home are connected to ventilation pipes, which go up through the roof to release the sewer gases from the decay of the various solids and organic matter that goes into the drains.
  • The plumbing fixtures in your home have a ‘trap’ installed to hold a small amount of water, which prevents the sewer gasses from rising up and out of the drain – this is the curved part of your pipes that you see under the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
  • All of the drains in your home are funneled to a main drain under your home, which carries the used water and waste to the municipal sewer lines.

As you can imagine, this complex configuration can lead to a variety of problems if not maintained properly. Luckily, the team at Absolute Plumbing and Drain of Lafayette has years of training and experience specific to sewer line maintenance, installation, repair, and replacement.
