Water Heater Services in Martinez, CA

Martinez, California Water Heater Services

For most of us the water heater is one appliance that we don’t spend much time thinking about. While most of the tasks that we need to complete during our day rely on having a properly working water heater, the unit itself is installed somewhere virtually hidden away and there is no need to interact with the system itself.

However, your water heater can be held responsible for nearly one-half of your power bill each month and if there is ever a malfunction you won’t be able to take a shower or wash clothes, so being thoughtful about your water heater will serve you well.

Thankfully, the highly-trained plumbing team at Absolute Plumbing and Drain has more than a decade of experience supporting Martinez area homeowners with all of their water heater needs. Whether it be water heater installation, maintenance, or repair our licensed plumbers have the equipment and experience to help. We maintain extensive knowledge on a wide variety of brands, makes, and models of both tankless and standard tank water heating systems.

Standard Tank Water Heaters

Almost all of the homes in the United States have a standard tank water heating system. You’ve seen this unit in your home, it is a vertically installed cylindrical tank that holds around 40 to 50 gallons of water at any given time.

When cold water fills the tank of your water heater, the heating element at the bottom of the unit is engaged and stays heated until the entire tank full of water is heated to the designated temperature. Once the 40 to 50 gallons of water is heated sufficiently, it sits and waits for someone to use it.

If any water is used from the tank, more cold water will be drained into the tank to make up for it. And the entire capacity of the tank will be heated up to the designated temperature again. The EPA recommends that you set your water heater to heat the water to 120 degrees. This allows for enough hot water for all activities, while keeping your unit as energy-efficient as possible.

Because the standard tank water heating system heats water whether it is being used or not, it is important to be thoughtful of steps to take when leaving the house for an extended vacation.

Tankless Water Heaters

If you are interested in having Green appliances installed in your home, you might want to consider a tankless water heating system. These units heat water on-demand rather than for storage, which means they can use up to 25% less energy.

The unit itself is approximately the size of a small suitcase and is usually mounted to the wall. It is then connected to your home’s plumbing system, and when the hot water faucet is turned on, cold water moves through the pipes of the tankless system, which have been heated by either electricity, gas, or propane.

As the water moves through the heated pipes it is heated up, this process can heat anywhere from two to five gallons of water per minute. As long as the tankless unit is the appropriate size for the household, this volume of water can be maintained at a high pressure of water for the entire duration that the hot water faucet is engaged. Both tankless and standard water heating systems are efficient and cost-effective ways to heat the water in your household.

There are pros and cons to both types of units and the experts at Absolute Plumbing and Drain have extensive training and experience installing, maintaining, and repairing all makes and models of tankless and standard tank water heating systems. If you have questions or would like information about your water heating needs, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly staff.
